The weather hasn’t been the best this spring, so we can understand that you may not have planned your Memorial Day weekend yet. The weather IS looking good for this Holiday weekend, so we thought we would give you a few ideas. Here are 5 things to do this Memorial Day weekend in Minnesota.
1. Fort Snelling Tours
This fort was commissioned in 1812 by the US government as a strategic presence at the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers. These rivers where high fur trading routes, a staple in the US economy in the 19th century. The fort protected these waterways, promoted US expansion into the west, and opened dialog between the US government and the Dakota Indians. The fort will be open for tours from 10 am to 5 pm all weekend long. For more information click here.
2. Winehaven Winery
This Memorial weekend is Tap the Barrel Weekend at Winehaven Winery in Chisago City. This celebration is in honor of another growing season, and to remember the fruits of last year’s labor. You can participate in wine tastings straight from the cask, and tours of this beautiful vineyard. There are tours both Saturday and Sunday, at 11 am and 1 pm. For more information click here.
