To sit down and visit with Johanna “Jo” Petersen is to be in the presence of a lovely, gracious and knowledgeable lady. Jo said she started in the residential real estate industry because she loves working with people. She is inspired by their interests and their lifestyles, and she loves taking on challenges to find great fits for wonderful clients.
Jo is a veteran having worked in residential real estate for 30 years! She started her career as a teacher with Bloomington Public Schools, teaching 1st grade and moving to a position as a dyslexic tutor. She took a little time off to raise her family, but when her youngest started kindergarten, she knew it was time to go back to work. She decided she wanted a new career, but still a career helping and teaching, so she decided on real estate. She started with First Minnetonka, but admired the agents who were so helpful and so professional at Roger Fazendin REALTORS®. She knew she wanted to be a part of this family organization. Twenty six years ago she joined Fazendin and she is still here! She loves that it’s family-owned, that everyone cares about one another and each client is valued.
Jo will tell you that real estate is invigorating to her – it gives her energy. Each client and transaction is different – there are never two alike. Jo grew up the youngest of ten on a South Dakota farm. This is where she developed good work habits and as Jo says “in the country everyone gets along with everybody, you learned tasks at any early age and responsibility grew.”
Many of Jo’s clients are very loyal, often purchasing their second, third or more homes with Jo and referring her over and over again. This speaks to the dedication she gives to each and every client. She estimates that 90% of her business is from past clients and referrals and 10% comes from open houses, ads and meeting new people.
Jo has been married to Ron for 54 years and they have three sons they are very proud of, two living in the Twin City metro area and one on the East Coast. Jo and Ron are also grandparents to 4 grandsons! Her husband has always been very supportive – as they like to say, if the phone rings, you serve. Jo thoroughly enjoys time with her family, cooking (she is an awesome cook!) and her monthly bridge that she has played for almost 30 years.
Her future holds the continuation of working with great people who bring her much joy. She embraces the technology because she knows it’s here to stay and she is ready to tackle new programs that benefit her clients. Her clients are the success story – not Jo – she listens and works to their benefit. Jo is not afraid to go the extra effort. She is genuine, helpful and resourceful. If she can assist you in any way, don’t hesitate to contact her.
