We had a chance to sit down and catch up with Fazendin Realtor® Heather Grant. Heather is a delight to visit with and a truly compassionate agent, enjoying every aspect of real estate. As we talked, it was easy to see and learn why she has so much empathy for each client that she serves. Read on for all the details.
We asked Heather why she wanted to become a Realtor®. Heather explained that in her past work life she worked on the creative and client services side of advertising – she was employed in every arena of that industry from agency to corporate to freelance and non-profit. She truly enjoyed what she did, but there came a point when she knew she was ready for a change. She started to explore different career paths. She knew her top priority was working with people. She enjoys learning their desires, needs and wants. Real estate had always been a consideration but she had never made is a reality. Because of her personal experience of relocating, the idea of a Realtor® appealed to Heather. Because of her husband’s career, they have moved a lot. Throughout her lifetime Heather has lived in a lot of different places including Plymouth, Edina, Minneapolis, Shorewood, Iowa City, Florence Italy, St. Louis, Tucson, Tempe, Gilbert, Mesa, Cave Creek, Denver and back to the Plymouth/Wayzata area – many of those places they have lived more than one time! They have lived in apartments, condos and single family homes along the way. They have rented and owned. She is excited to share that Plymouth/Wayzata is home, this is where she and her husband grew up and they are here to stay!
Heather attended Oakwood Elementary in the Wayzata School District and then first through 12th grade, she attended Breck. Her husband, Johnny was a Benilde graduate. They have been married twelve years and have two beautiful children ages 3 and 6. You can tell by talking to Heather that they are a fun family. As she shares, she and Johnny are both very social and outgoing and they both enjoy being with people and helping.
Since becoming a Realtor®, Heather has enjoyed looking at homes, but her true passion is the people she serves. She gets really excited when they find the right fit and the closing is really pleasurable. As she explains, there are few jobs that give this much reward. Of course there can be stress and a variety of emotions involved along the way, but Heather is so empathetic and passionate about people and helping them to achieve their goals. No job seems too big if Heather is involved. She breaks it into manageable pieces and it gets done. Being a busy mom with young children herself, she understands the sometimes overwhelming task of getting it all done with small children at home. . . but with her guidance she makes it stress free and fun.
Her family has been very supportive of her new career choice and all agree it is a good fit for Heather. Her friends tell her she is a natural for this industry and she is proving them right as she serves buyers and sellers from first time homebuyers to move up buyers to empty nesters and those wanting to downsize. It seems she has had experience personally or professionally with every type of buyer and seller!
Heather said she chose Fazendin because there is nowhere else she wanted to go. The size is good, the location is great and she knew it was the right fit and right place. When she met with Andy Fazendin, she knew there would be a personal, one on one connection, much like the connection she provides her own clients. Every real estate transaction is different and the support she receives from the broker, the staff and her co-agents is amazing. It truly is a team environment and everyone is ready to listen and share with experience, advice and wisdom.
The one thing about the real estate industry that has surprised Heather is the number of agents who are not actively engaged. She has made this a priority and she is ready to focus and serve each client. It’s hard to understand how those not fully engaged truly serve their clients. She explains that real estate is unlike a lot of other careers – it’s truly up to you. There is a tremendous amount of opportunity; the sky is the limit to help lots and lots of people.
In her free time, Heather enjoys yoga, running, cooking, time with friends and adventures with her family. She also enjoys travel, but as she says travel is more on hold for now because “we are in the kid zone”! She is very involved at her daughter’s school St. Bart’s, serving on the PTO, this year as VP and next year as President. She knows it’s important to give back and she loves the school and faith community where they belong. As we talked, you can just feel the support that you receive when you work with Heather. She takes away any apprehensions and she loves what she is doing. So if you have a residential real estate need anywhere in the metro area and need an empathetic guide in the process to make your dream a reality, contact Heather and let her help you make it fun as well!
