You’ve already tackled the ultimate springtime cleaning checklist, now, as it continues to get warmer, be sure to follow our summer maintenance checklist to get your house ready for the new season.
Prep fans/AC units
After what seemed like a never-ending winter, your AC units and fans may need a little TLC. Making sure they are clean, up to date and working properly will guarantee a cool and safe summer. AC checkups can even help save you money throughout the summer.
Deep clean windows
Cleaning the insides of your windows just won’t cut it. You will be surprised how bright your home will be once you wash the exterior of the windows and screens. Simply remove screens and wash with a soapy sponge. Washing the exteriors of your windows can be done with a ladder and sponges or power washer.
Inspect your deck/patio
If you followed our spring cleaning checklist, you would have power washed your deck. Now is the time to inspect it. If you see any loose nails, make sure to either remove and replace or hammer them in to avoid any injury. If you see rotted boards, replace them. This is also a great time to determine if you are due to reseal your deck.
Craft a summer lawn care schedule
Beautiful lawns take dedication, meaning they don’t happen overnight. Setting up a schedule to water and mow your lawn will keep you on track for that beautiful green lawn through the summer months. Checking the weather can be the first step in your lawn care plan. Mow only when the grass is dry and avoid doing so during the heat of the day.
Clean your grill!
It is finally grilling season and you don’t want to start off with a dirty grill. Taking care of your grill will guarantee a long lifespan.
For a gas grill:
- Remove grill, spray with liquid cleaner
- Soak grates prior to scrubbing with a wire brush
- Remove burners and scrape with a wire brush
- Clean burner holes
- Use a wet-dry vac to remove the remaining debris from the inside of the grill
For a charcoal grill:
- Remove grill grate (if possible) scrub with a wire brush
- Wipe down the inside of the lid (if applicable)
- Clean out all charcoal ash from the bottom of the grill
- Scrub bottom of the grill with steel wool and soap and water
- Check/empty ash catcher
