Community Cares

Fazendin Realtors is committed to bettering the communities in which our clients, agents, and staff live, work, and play. By sponsoring local initiatives and sports teams, volunteering, organizing and participating in local food & fund drives, and actively engaging with our neighbors – Fazendin Community Cares’ strives to make a difference at the local level.

Mission: To create a better world for everyone, one home at a time.

Vision: Everyone in the Twin Cities area has a safe place to live.

CURRENT INITIATIVE:

2023 Community Cares Holiday Drive

Fazendin Community Cares is hosting their annual Holiday Drive. All the donations we collect will benefit NorthPoint Community Food Shelf in Minneapolis. For over forty years, NorthPoint’s Community Food Shelf has been available to those facing hunger in the Twin Cities community, providing meals to over 1,000 households each month. NorthPoint’s mission is “partnering to create a healthier community,” and meeting basic food needs is the first step towards health for all.

To help NorthPoint accomplish its mission, we are collecting nonperishable foods and hygiene products. Their most needed items are:

  • Canned tuna
  • Peanut butter
  • Jelly
  • Diapers
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Soap
  • Shampoo
  • Feminine products
  • Razors
  • Shaving cream

Last year, we collected 5,300 pounds of donations, and this year, we want to reach or exceed that number.

If you would like to contribute, bring your donations to our office during business hours (Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm) from Wednesday, November 1 through Friday, December 8.

PREVIOUS INITIATIVES:

2023 Comforter Collection

We collected 123 items, all of which were donated to Bridging MN!
Bridging MN is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization primarily serving the Twin Cities that changes the lives of people who are transitioning out of homelessness and poverty.
Thank you to all who donate to this great organization!

2023 SHRED-IT

Earth Day 2023, Fazendin Realtors again invited Veterans Shredding to come to our office for our agents, clients, and staff to recycle their old documents.

We shredded a total of 4,500 POUNDS of paper! Recycling this much paper saves:
🌳 12 trees
🛢️ 114 gallons of oil
💡 1,202 hours of electricity
💧 3,603 gallons of water

2022 HOLIDAY DRIVE:

Fazendin Community Cares conducted its annual Holiday Drive from November 1 through December 9. We collected 5,350 pounds worth of nonperishable foods and hygiene products. With Fazendin’s pound-for-pound match, we donated over 5 tons (10,700 pounds!) to NorthPoint Community Food Shelf in Minneapolis.

Thank you to our clients, agents, staff, and community members for contributing to our Holiday Drive!

LEND-A-HAND

As a company, we participated in Lend-a-Hand at Ronald McDonald House in Minneapolis. We helped the House with daily chores and organization.

SHRED-IT

This Earth Day, Fazendin Realtors shredded and recycled 4,300 lbs of paper – saving 34 trees, 760 gallons of oil, six cubic yards of landfill space, 8,000 kilowatts of energy, and 14,000 gallons of water! We also collected a trunk-full of computers, routers, and modems!

COMFORTER COLLECTION:

During the month of April, Fazendin Community Cares hosted their Comforter Collection. We collected over 200 new and gently used bedding for two local nonprofit organizations: My Very Own Bed and Bridging.

Bed is a nonprofit

My Very Own Bed is a nonprofit organization that provides “Dream Kits” to children moving into stable housing in the Greater Twin Cities Area. These “Dream Kits” include a new bed, set of sheets, fleece blanket, pillow, mattress pad, stuffed animal, and book. Since 2014, My Very Own Bed has delivered over 4,000 beds and Dream Kits to children ages 2 through 17 in the Twin Cities.

Bridging is an organization that provides donated furniture and household goods to families and individuals transitioning out of homelessness and poverty. Bridging gives hope and a leap towards housing stability. Bridging is driven by volunteers and donations of basic home essential items from the community. Since 1987, Bridging has served more than 100,000 households (more than 300,000 individuals), and reduces landfill space by 11 million pounds each year.

WRAPPED IN LOVE:

In honor of Valentine’s Day, Fazendin Community Cares made 10 fleece blankets for My Very Own Bed during our Wrapped in Love event. The founder, Michael Allen, built this organization after seeing the conditions of family shelters while he worked in social services. What struck him was seeing so many children with poor sleeping conditions due to the lack of basic furnishings. Now, My Very Own Bed has delivered over 4,000 beds and Dream Kits to children ages 2 through 17 in the Twin Cities.

2021 HOLIDAY DRIVE:

Fazendin Community Cares conducted their annual Holiday Drive from November 1 through December 10. We collected 4,930 pounds worth of nonperishable foods and hygiene products. With Fazendin’s pound-for-pound match, we donated a total of almost 5 tons (9,900 pounds!) to NorthPoint Community Food Shelf in Minneapolis.

Thank you to our clients, agents, staff, and community members for contributing to our Holiday Drive!

LOVE OF COMMUNITY FUND & FOOD DRIVE:

For over forty years, NorthPoint’s Community Food Shelf has been available to those facing hunger in our community. They aim to continue providing nutritious food and services that support self-sufficiency. 100% of donations go directly to hunger relief for children, hardworking families, struggling seniors, and more.

From February 14th to March 1st, 2021 – Community Cares worked to collect some of North Point’s most needed items, such as shaving cream, diapers, toothbrushes, beans, whole grain cereals, and more.

Together we were able to provide the North Point Food Shelf:

  • Over $1000 in Cash (which we matched!)
  • Over 1000lbs of Goods!

Thank you to our clients, agents, staff, and community members for your participation and contributions to our Love of Community Fund & Food Drive!

TOYS FOR TOTS & FOOD DRIVE:

Each holiday season, our office does Secret Santa, but with a twist: participants are asked to purchase a toy they think their assigned person would have enjoyed between the child. All toys purchased are then donated to Toys for Tots.

Additionally, as part of our annual Wreath Party, we invite our clients, agents, and staff to bring toys and canned goods to donate.

In 2020, Fazendin Realtors Community Cares collected and donated 2,900lbs of food for Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners. This amount was then matched with a $500 cash contribution from Fazendin Realtors – making a total of over 6000lbs of food donated!

AND we collected and donated over 500 toys to Toys for Tots in 2020! This is double what we have collected in years past – thank you to all who participated for your heartwarming generosity!
