Did you know…
The Minnesota State Fair is the second largest State Fair in the country, second only to the State Fair of Texas.
Record day for most attendees was a Sunday in 2012. 236,197 people attended the fair this day.
State Fair nets a revenue between $1-1.5 million when the fair is in session – pretty low, considering the annual average amount of visitors is about 1.5 million. Most money for improvements comes from renting the fairgrounds out on the off-season.
The band that has performed the most times at MN state fair is Alabama, 18 different times over 13 different years.
Free SPF 30 Vanicream sunscreen is available at all Minnesota State Fair information booths.
In total, the Minnesota State Fair offers nearly 500 foods at 300 concession locations throughout the fairgrounds.
Corndogs are arguably the king of fair food. In 12 days of the fair, 36 tons of hot dogs and 155 tons of batter will be fried and consumed.
Can you taste the difference? Corndogs are made with cornmeal or corn flour and have a sweeter taste to them. Pronto Pups, on the other hand, are made with flour or pancake batter.
Among the numerous available competitions is a homebrew competition, open to non-professional brewers from Minnesota.
During a typical year, about 25,000 gallons of milk are served at the American Dairy Association’s All-You-Can-Drink Milk concession.
Before the summer heat fades into fall, take a day to enjoy the “Great Minnesota Get Together.” This end-of-summer tradition is always held the 12 days leading up to and through Labor Day.
Whether it’s Martha’s Cookies, a show at the Grandstand, the Tilt-o-Whirl, or just the simple joy of people watching, the Minnesota State Fair has an escape for everyone. We know we’ll be attending and we hope to see you there!
