This is 32nd in a series of 50 posts we are putting out throughout the years in anticipation of the celebration of our 50th Anniversary in 2015. We welcome your feedback and suggestions for the top things YOU love about Minnesota as well!
Do you like to bicycle, visit pubs, and hang out with friends? If you do and you want to take advantage of the outdoors in our short MN summers, then you’ll want to reserve a seat with your friends on a Pedal Pub soon. As REALTORS®, we work hard day, night, and weekends. It was a treat to be with my fellow Fazendin friends and their significant others this past week.
The sky opened and the rain came pouring down about two hours prior to us “shoving off”. We had a nice warm summer evening to pedal around NE Minneapolis, or “Nordeast” as we affectionately call this area. The St. Anthony area of NE Minneapolis is the birthplace of Minneapolis. In fact Minneapolis was named St. Anthony, prior to being called Minneapolis. The area has a large number of churches… and bars. The explosion of local craft breweries opening in NE Minneapolis has brought even more visitors to the area. Nordeast has a dedicated arts community which sponsors Art-A-Whirl each Fall and Spring. This event brings more than 20,000 visitors to the area to visit local art studios.
Our goal last week during our Pedal Pub event was to catch up with our fellow agents and their partners. It was a great team building event. Even though we reserved the Pedal Pub and the driver for 2 hours, the time went by too quickly. We ended up going to Psycho Suzi’s for pizza after we pedaled our way back to the Pedal Pub garage. The pedal pub has room for about 16 pedalers and riders. There is no motor, so it truly is a work out. The driver made sure to use proper turn signals and had a bell to ring to let us know when he required more speed. Some of us were fueled by beer and wine which is allowed while pedaling. We stopped at Stanley’s, Mayslacks’s, and Gasthoff’s for more hydrating along the route! This was a great introduction to Nordeast for many of my fellow agents who have not visited the area. And for the agents and spouses who knew the area, but had not been on a pedal pub, it was a great way to see it from a different angle.
There are a number of different Pedal Pub tours you can choose from, including Downtown Minneapolis. If you need to let some steam off and a little bit of sweat, I highly recommend a Pedal Pub event with your friends. It’s good adult fun balanced with a bit of exercise. Don’t worry if you’re not able to pedal. There are a few seats available for passengers. If they’re able and you’re lucky, maybe they could be your bartender while you pedal away!
