This is 40th in a series of 50 posts we are putting out throughout the years in anticipation of the celebration of our 50th Anniversary in 2015. We welcome your feedback and suggestions for the top things YOU love about Minnesota as well!
Since we are the “Twin Cities” and we gave attention last month to Minneapolis, seems only right that we share a bit about the other twin city, St. Paul. It is the capital of our great state and the second most populated city after Minneapolis. The city is known for the Xcel Energy Center, the History Museum, the Science Museum, the Minnesota Children’s Museum, Como Zoo and Conservatory and the Ordway to name a few top places. The strong economy in St. Paul is the home to several major companies, Ecolab, Securian Financial Group and Gander Mountain. Many people think that 3M and St. Jude are located in St. Paul, but they are actually in the St. Paul suburbs of Maplewood and Little Canada, respectively.
St. Paul is definitely known for its festivals and events. The Winter Carnival is always a crowd pleaser, even in our frigid temperatures. The Irish Festival, Grand Ol’ Days and the Minnesota St. Fair located near the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus would be other event highlights. Water is common in this city too with the Mississippi River bordering three sides of the city and many lakes like Lake Phalen, Pigs Eye Lake and Lake Como.
Minnesota is known for hockey and St. Paul is home to the Minnesota Wild and in baseball, the St. Paul Saints are christening a new home this season. The St. Paul Curling Club is also the largest curling club in the United States. The city is also known for its historical neighborhoods, Summit Hill, Macalester-Groveland, and Summit-University. Beautiful, large estates that provide historical walking tours and that have been preserved for decades.
St. Paul is a treasure in itself with so much to do and discover. This summary just highlights a few of the attractions. If you are considering a move to the St. Paul area soon, please contact us for any assistance you may need with your relocation.
