Sue advised that the first part of her day begins with dropping kiddos off at school, followed by a strong cup of coffee and plenty of preparation. She returns e-mails, sets up appointments, puts together tour packets and gathers information for her clients. This is her chance to set up all the details for the day, so that the day will go smoothly. Sue always has at least one morning appointment as well, so time is of the essence and schedules rule her world. Most recently the extreme focus has been with buyers as buyer activity is so strong right now. Supplies are at an all time low so timing is so critical. The afternoon and evening consists of meeting with more client showings. On a typical day, Sue will meet with up to five clients in a day! Often weekend appointments are scheduled to meet with clients who are considering listing their homes, as well as, showing buyers potential homes. The schedule is the guiding force!
Our current market is one Sue has never seen before. In over ten years as an agent she has never seen activity so strong, ideal listings must be seen the first or second day they go on the market. This may mean that Sue is showing one home to a client or maybe eight homes, depending on what has become available on the market that matches their criteria that they haven’t seen. The process of looking for a home is typically taking anywhere from two days to five months. Unfortunately there is no magic number of houses to see before a client will find the property that they fall in love with. But nothing shy of perfection will suffice so the search is always on!
Balancing work and life is a priority for Sue. She has a very, very supportive family. In all honesty, she says it’s taken some adjusting for her family to be comfortable and understanding of her busy schedule, but now her children (Haley and Tyler) enjoy coming to the office and helping. They know what to expect and her husband and children are very proud of her. Sue tries to carve out a portion of the day to be with family for dinner, homework, activities and family time, but then after bedtime – she is right back at it.
Real estate has become so much about real time – details have to be put together quickly, so the evenings consist of a lot of research and market analysis. Technology during the day is such a blessing. Often she can respond to an inquiry immediately and offers can be made electronically! This is such a change from just two yeas ago. But personal attention to client’s needs and true time dedication to the statistics, information and numbers is needed before answering the important client questions with confidence. The beginning and end of her day are her chance to regroup and follow up on these details.
The favorite thing for Sue about being a REALTOR® is that her desk is in a different city every day and her work is never monotonous. Each day is different, always a different client, different personalities, emotions, and situations. She love what she does and she loves the variety!
While Sue doesn’t like the focus given to her as Agent of the Month – she is honored to be named this. For her, the goal is about the clients and giving them the best and most consistent service possible – every month of the year.
The market has changed so much in the last few months that it has forced Sue to move to a new level of service.
