Savage, located in Scott County, is distinguished by its convenient location, varied history, and lush surroundings. The city is 15 miles south-southwest of downtown Minneapolis, situated on the south bank of the Minnesota River in a region commonly referred to as South of the River. In 2010, the community was named among the best affordable suburbs in the nation. As the city has grown, development has occurred southward to settle on the bluffs overlooking the scenic Minnesota River Valley. Savage is now an industrial manufacturing job center in the southern metro. The city is still relatively undeveloped, rural and wild.
