Marla Jean and Jerry Alstead have been selling residential real estate for 23 years. They are our #1 agents in total sales and in listings sold and have tremendous loyalty from their past clients. They have been once again named the Agent of the Month for their hard work and great results.
We sat down to chat about what’s important in selecting a real estate agent to represent you and why so many have selected Jerry and Marla Jean over the years.
Selling houses from preparation to pricing, to marketing to sale to closing takes expertise and skill to get the best results – and nothing helps more than experience and proven results. In addition there needs to be a feeling of trust, a building of a relationship – we are partnering with you to achieve maximum results. Like Marla Jean says, “We are in this together.”
The Alstead’s have been involved in hundreds and hundreds of residential real estate transactions – probably well over 1000 in their 23 years.
When asked if they had “seen everything”, Jerry said “well, just about, but when you think you’ve seen everything, something new comes up.”
Experience is critical in properly pricing a house. Jerry and Marla Jean have seen a variety of markets, and they have seen a market like the one we are currently in. Markets tend to have cycles – some favor buyers, some sellers and some are “balanced”.
The Alstead’s pride themselves in marketing – they provide an aggressive step-by-step customized marketing plan for each home they list – to bring the maximum exposure to the home in the marketplace. Jerry points out that the industry has changed considerably over the past 23 years with the Internet and social media. We once had a “Sears Catalog” with all the listings and we ran a few newspaper ads. That’s all changed – and all the information is on the web for everyone. Our job is to interpret that information for our clients and provide extensive, professional coverage in their market place for our sellers.
Marla Jean quickly added that there is much more to our marketing – from an artist sketch announcement of your home being offered for sale sent to the surrounding neighborhood to a well-publicized broker open luncheon to regular mail and e-mail blasts to REALTORS® publicizing your home. Plus there are a dozen or more additional marketing items to promote your home to REALTORS® and to the public.
Jerry reminded that we help with advising sellers on how to best prepare their home for sale by offering our expertise and that of a professional design consultant (at our expense) and recommend tradesmen and vendors, if needed. Sometimes small “cost effective” updates and enhancement can make all the difference.
Real estate contracts have become extensive and a final Purchase Agreement can run 25+ pages. We have to know these forms, and we work with them on a daily basis. We work with you through all the details from home inspection issues to following through on a buyer’s mortgage commitment.
Marla Jean says that we want to make the selling process “a positive experience with the least amount of stress and inconvenience for you. Selling or buying a home is serious business, but we like to have fun in the process. We will give you an honest price opinion – and not overprice a house just to gain a listing, advise you on preparing your house to make the best presentation, aggressively market it, and follow through the home inspection and all the details to a sale and a successful closing.”
Selecting a REALTOR® who is experienced, professional and knowledgeable – who you are comfortable partnering with – is very important!
