This is tenth in a series of 50 posts we are putting out throughout the years in anticipation of the celebration of our 50th Anniversary in 2015. We welcome your feedback and suggestions for the top things YOU love about Minnesota as well!
“I can’t imagine getting lost anywhere else…”
One of my favorite Minneapolis park districts is The Minnehaha byway district. It covers the very best 12.6 miles of the 50.1 total miles covered by all seven Minneapolis byway districts. The trails are groomed throughout the year. Lace up your running shoes, forget about traffic and get lost in the city!
There is a stretch of the trail that creates a canopy of spring blooms that is unforgettable. I look forward to it every year and it serves as a clock that marks the arrival of spring and reminds me of the change to early winter as the leaves canvas the trail before the snow flies. Unfortunately, the blooms will be coming later, as you can see from the picture taken mid April (Cedar and Minnehaha Parkway)… this year winter has reminded us just how beautiful and stubborn it can be!
I encourage everyone to relax and take a walk, run, or bike through my neighborhood- any time of the year – you just may love it enough and become a neighbor, I’d be happy to find you a home!
