This is fourteenth in a series of 50 posts we are putting out throughout the years in anticipation of the celebration of our 50th Anniversary in 2015. We welcome your feedback and suggestions for the top things YOU love about Minnesota as well!
The Minneapolis Aquatennial is the official civic celebration of the City of Minneapolis – fondly referred to as The Best Days of Summer. All events take place around the City of Minneapolis and is always held the third full week of July. Events range from water to food to music and more. Flagship events include Sandcastle Competition, Milk Carton Boat Race, Torchlight Parade and Fireworks wrap up the fun. Of course, Royalty is selected and Ambassadors too. The really neat thing about The Best Days of Summer is most events are free to attend and no tickets are required. This year’s events just wrapped up, but you can put next year’s date on your calendar as The Minneapolis Aquatennial celebrates its 75th year – Friday, July 18 – Saturday, July 26, 2014!
